Chapt.1
I really didnt think that this rule was fair because what would happen to the parents that wanted to have more than two or three children because their first baby born was already all grown up? If I as in that kind of community I would really, really want to leave because come on let's be realistic here, more than half of the world wants babies. What would they want to do if they wanted a lot of children not just one or two or three but more than that. If I lived in a community such as this one and I had a choice of staying or havong more children I would choose more kids. Kids to me are fun and they make life fun unless they start crying, but other than that kids are fun and cool to me no matter what anyone says to me, kids are cool kids when they want to be.

Chapt.2
In the Giver book, Jonas was becoming older and was now twelve so, according to his community he had to have a Ceremoy for his turning of 12. Now, Jonas would be assigned a placement which is a placement for a job. Jonas's father had already gone through everything so he wasn't really, very surprised about anything that was giong to happen. So I guess that Jonas's father was givng him a lot of advice like not to be nervous and that if he was it was very normal for him to fell that way. Jonas was now becoming a man.

Chapt.3
After reading this quote from the story I thought that perhaps Jonas was really stressed out so he started to hallusinate and that that's why he had seen that apple change forms. Maybe my prediction is correct! Maybe Jonas was really tired and so when he looked up and he saw the apple he thought thst it had just instantly changed. BUT IT DIDN'T!!!!! He was just probably sleepy and was in need of a very long nap. Maybe his mind was somewhere else or maybe the light was too strong and it just suddenlly went into his eyes so when he saw the apple the light made his eyes do something different. None of this is correct all it is is just that Jonas was begging to see COLOR!!

Chapt.4
When you read aloud to us "naked body" it didn't have much impact on me than it did on my other classmates. I wasn't giong to be all imature or even start to laugh like they did, because like why do that? People who went "oohh" in the class were just diong thst to probably get attention or just trying to find an excuse to talk. To me jus making that noise or sound is very, very, very imature. What if some of the kids in our class had to do community service just like this would they have wanted a lot of other people to make fun of it or to start yelling out "ooohh, ooohh" and start laughing.

Chapt.5
This quote just means that Jonas was getting older and just have to start doing something that everyone over a certain age had to do. I think that everyone who turned a certain age had to do according to their community.

Cahpt.6
The whole concept of letting others Elsewhere was not fair to me because, why would they even have to leave? What would they have to do to be sent out of their community? I wouldn't want to live there because if I was one of the people that had to be released out of the community I would of course be very, very scared to live longer, not knowing that at any time I would probably have a chance at death. I wouldn't want to DIE!! I didn't think it was fair just leaving the community but never coming back that would be even more scary for me.

Chapt.7
Eventually, for a period of time, Asher stopped talking altogether, when he was a three. I couldn't even start to imagine a three year old child not talking or
even making a single sound from their mouths. I didn't think that it was fair to not let a child, a young child talk just because of something they did without even knowing whatwas going on.

Chapt.8
The Receiver of Memory was very importsnt job because in his brain he had to keep all of the memories of everyperson in the community so that they wouldn't feel any pain or anything. That's just how their community was formed to be. When Jonas was in line to recieve his assignment I think that he felt nervous and was scared about his job. I think that when he recieved his new job he was releaved even though this job was a very hard job according to the story in the book.

"Why don't we have snow, and sleds, and hills?" This was a very good question and then I started wondering why don't we have snow in California. There is a lot me and Jonas have in common, we are both 12 and we both wanted snow in our communities. I guess that Jonas was a very sensative boy because not a lot of boys in their 10 or 12's want snow they just like it. Jonas was very cool exactly like me because.. A. we want snow in our lives and B. we are both the same cool age.

Chapt.13
I thought that their community was safe before but now I know that it was really safe there. If the people in their community couldn't have a chance to make mistakes in their lives it must of been a saf community. In life we need to have mistakes made because then how are we supposed to learn. What are we supposed to learn from? What is life all about, Mistakes right?

Chapt.14
This quote made a big impact on me because it wasn't fair that one person would die and then they would have their funeral and then someone else would be born and take the place of that person who died. If I would die I wouldn't want anyone to replace me because no one in the world could have my same personality. I would be very sad if this were to happen to me because no one in my community or in your community would be me. They would be very, very different.

Chapt.15
This was a really important quote because in Jonas's community there were no apologies, and it was a very powerful thing when The Giver asked for Jonas's forgiveness. I think that both Jonas and The Giver felt the same thing at the same time, Happiness when the Giver said that. It was probably very powerful and very emotional for the two of them. It would also be very emotional for me too. It was really bad that The Giver broke a community but, for a really great reason.

Chapt.16
Here in this quote Jonas was just talking about his parents and when they were going to leave like become to old and have to move into The Old People Homes. I THINK!! My guess is that maybe Jonas was very sensative so he was just thinking about what life would be like without his parents in his life.

Chapt.18-19
WOW!! This for me was the sadest part in the chapter because of what happened to the baby. I know that it made me sad and that it made you sad too. I wonder why in a lot of books thy put the happy things in first and then the put all of the sad things in until the very end. I have personally had someone in my family die but I was very little so I don't remember how I felt.

Chapt. 20.
I think that Jonas was a very nice boy because he wanted The Giver to keep something that belonged to him. This is what a very nice boy is.

Chapt.21

Chapt.22-23
I think that Jonas and Gabriel died in the end. :(

Dear Mrs.Zana,
I wasn't exactly doing all of my reading homework so I don't know what alot of the quotes mean
